[To All Students] Commencement of New Academic Year 2021/22
On behalf of the University, the Registry would like to welcome all returning and new students to the new academic year of 2021/22. The first teaching day for Semester 1, 2021/22, will be on Wednesday, 8 September. Below are some reminders for your attention:
Teaching and Learning Activities and Final Examinations
- All classes and final examinations will be conducted face-to-face on-campus according to the assigned timetables in the scheduled classrooms/venues. No online classes will be available.
- The University will stay vigilant to the pandemic situation and if it worsens, classes may be supplemented with live broadcast or conducted solely online, and examinations may be held in other formats. Students are advised to stay alert from time to time to the University announcements via email and eCampus.
- Students should also take note that there may be modules with practice elements that require on-campus classes regardless of the University-wide teaching mode adopted. Remarks of such will be made on the respective modules in the Module Planner.
Attendance Requirements
- All undergraduate (UG) students are required to observe the attendance requirements. If class attendance is not possible due to valid reasons (including visa issuance delay or compulsory quarantine requirements), students are advised to submit an Application for Leave of Absence (REG Form 02) to the Registry if the leave is 5 consecutive days or more. To provide learning support to non-local students who cannot come to campus on time due to visa and/or compulsory quarantine requirements, Teams/Zoom links of live broadcast classes (for real-time viewing with no interaction) will be provided by the respective module teachers during the first month of Semester 1 (i.e., from 8 September to 7 October 2021) to students with approved Leave of Absence. The University will review and extend the practice if necessary.
Convocation for New Undergraduate Students
- To prevent the risk of COVID-19 in crowd gathering, the University has decided to cancel the Convocation for New Undergraduate (UG) Students to safeguard the health of staff and students.
Learning Support
- A Personal Tutor is also assigned to all UG students by their Programmes for personal advice and a Department/School based Academic Advisor for Students is appointed to provide academic advices related to your study and the prevailing academic policies and regulations. UG Students may also refer to the Directory of Schools / Departments / Programmes / Academic Advisors for support and advice on their studies from related offices.
Taught Postgraduate (TPG) Programmes
- The above updates are applicable to undergraduate programmes. Teaching and examination arrangements for TPG programmes will be announced by respective Programme Offices, Departments or Schools.
Registry Services
- Please stay alert to announcements on eCampus and Gmail on a daily basis for important information from the University. For specific Registry services, please act according to the established policies and emails sent by the Registry from time to time or visit the Registry webpages for Undergraduate or Postgraduate students.
Arrangements during Inclement Weather
- Special arrangements for classes and examinations under Inclement Weather are applicable to ALL modes of teaching.
Public Health and Campus Hygiene
- Please refer to the HSUHK Latest Announcements on COVID-19 for latest updates of HSUHK on COVID-19.
