List of modules of Semester 1, 2021/22
To: UG Students
We are pleased to inform you that the list of modules of Semester 1, 2021/22 is released on the Module Planner for your perusal. Kindly please note that the timetables were compiled with due consideration of ample factors/constraints for over 300 teachers, 6,000 students and limited classrooms. Balances were endeavoured irrespective of difficulties such that the feasibilities for teachers and students are being considered and in reasonable manner in general.
In the Module Planner, you can filter your selection of modules, download any module outlines, build a trial timetable (see here), etc. The Planner will be updated from time to time when changes arisen. The last updated time of the system will be shown on top of the home page.
Please be reminded that the trial timetable is for reference only. It will be cleared once you logged out from the Module Planner. Please print/capture screen before logging out if you want to keep a record of your trial timetable. You are still required to register those module-sessions through the Module Registration System during the Main Round of Module Registration Period on 24-25 August 2021. The actual module registrations are subject to availabilities and fulfilments of pre-requisite requirements.
Please refer to the suggested study plan sent by your Programme Office and note the following when you read the list of modules and prepare for the module registration:
- It is the deployment plans of the offering Departments/Schools that determine the number of modules and sessions to be offered according to their staff strength and the estimated student demands indicated by all Programme Offices. Students may need to acknowledge there may not always be enough supply for popular elective modules. But please rest assured that NO students, who are due for graduation after completion of this semester, would be affected by insufficient places in any modules. Please approach your Programme Office for assistance if necessary.
- Some modules were offered in both semesters and students from different programmes are designated to register them in a specific semester. Therefore, you will have no priority in registering some of your major core or major elective modules in stage 1 if they are not prescribed in your suggested study plan of this semester by your Programme Office. Please seek advices from your Programme Office if in doubt.
- Your Programme Office has reserved sufficient places of stage 1 modules for you to register. Nevertheless, you may run the risk of not being able to register them later if you do not register them at the assigned time of the first day of module registration as your place will be open for students of the next year/stage immediately.
- For modules offering to junior year students in stage 1, senior year students of the same programme may also register for those modules in stage 1.
- Students may retake a module that they have passed with a grade “C” or below with no additional application procedures. Nevertheless, priority will still be given to first-timers. Retake students can only register for those passed modules during the Module Add/drop period.
You may refer to the announcement made by the Registry for more information about the whole module registration arrangements.
Thank you for your attention.
